When your teen wakes up at 10 a.m., disappears into the basement, and doesn't emerge until 1 a.m., you start to wonder if there is a problem.
That is the hard truth sitting at the center of this whole book: nobody trains parents for the world our kids are actually growing up in.
So let me underline the first point right away: you, as a parent, are not broken.
So we are going to explore this thing called gaming, and our children, together. Why is your son so drawn to the games? What are they fulfilling in his life? What is happening in his brain as it develops? What are the social impacts and the potential mental health concerns? And then the most important question of all: how can all of this be used for good — to actually help our children grow?
